Powers Law Begins Working Remotely Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak

Mpowerslaw March 16, 2020

Starting Monday, March 16, 2020, Powers Law is encouraging our employees to work from home temporarily, because we are dedicated to the safety of our clients, our staff, and our community. As we all know, new government and business closures are occurring every day as leaders try to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

This is a difficult time to be sure, and all of us are being asked to make sacrifices. Because Powers Law is dedicated to caring for the injured and sick, many of our clients are particularly vulnerable to the virus. For this reason, we supports our community’s efforts to contain the virus. We are committed to being part of the solution while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and care for our clients.

Working remotely is a new process for most of us. (Here’s to Katie, who is teaching us all how she manages it.) We are asking all clients to be patient while we settle in to this temporary process. Fortunately, we have worked for many years to create a fully electronic case management system, and our work is paying off now. Paralegals have full and secure access to their cases with the ability to manage cases from any location.

It is still easy to contact us. If you are a current client, you have 24-hour access to leave messages and upload documents to us through your MyCase account. Of course, staff are not available 24-hours a day, but we immediately see your message as soon as we log in to MyCase every day. Please remember to give as much detail as possible when you send a message.

Your phone calls are important to us, but our telephone time is limited because time on a call is time we are not working on cases. MyCase is the best and fastest way for clients to contact their paralegal. If you have not tried MyCase, I encourage you to give it a try. If you can use Facebook, you can use MyCase.

If you do not have a current case with us or you have problems with your MyCase login, you can leave a voicemail at our main office number (864-227-2500). We will be checking messages several times a day and returning calls accordingly. Our current policy is to return phone calls within 24 hours. This policy remains in effect.

Again, all calls are important to us. If for any reason you have not received a call back from us within 24 hours, something has happened. So, please call back and leave another message. Perhaps we didn’t understand your number or your message didn’t record.

It is important to understand that you will likely not recognize the telephone number when a staff member calls you back. Be prepared to answer an unknown number when they call you. If you miss a return call, please call back to the main office and leave another message. We cannot monitor calls to these individual paralegal numbers.

Finally, Powers Law thanks all healthcare workers, including many of our family and friends, who are fighting this terrible virus. We don’t mean just doctors and nurses. We are including everyone from cleaning staff, maintenance, IT and cafeteria workers to home health workers, office staff and managers. We see your sacrifices, and we appreciate you. You have our admiration and our prayers. When you see a healthcare worker – tell them how much you appreciate them during this time.

To our clients, thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time. We are proud to manage your legal needs. We care about you and your case, and we are dedicated to moving your case forward in the most effective, efficient and professional way possible.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Be safe and take care of each other.
